WE, THE WOMEN
It was women who took over the streets just a little less than a month ago. And it’s we, the women, who will again flood the streets of downtown Los Angeles for International Women’s Day on Sunday, March 5th, for a protest and rally that is actually BUILT and LED by transnational, women of color.
My name is Sumaq and I’m a transnational feminist organizer. I’m part of AF3IRM , a transnational feminist organization. I’m personally inviting you to march with us but ALSO to support our call for an escalation of an all WOMEN’S RESISTANCE - FEMINIST UPRISING. We can’t do this without you.
We, women of color, face issues that go beyond City Hall, beyond Sacramento...these issues exist no matter WHO sits in the White House…systemic racism, sexism, class oppression, homophobia, and transphobia are BUILT into the very fabric and structures of this country. These oppressive systems are what we are working to abolish.
We have not and will not stand by as fascists take over. We will not stand by as they strip us of the few rights we have left. We will not stand by as they imprison us under unjust immigration policies. We will not stand by as they kill us here and then kill our families abroad as well. They want a fight - WE WILL GIVE IT TO THEM.
