Veganic Gardening Demonstration

[updated 8/18/2016]

Hi my name is Colin and I would like to demonstrate how you can have a healthy and productive garden in a small space, without using any animals or animal products; a wonderful win-win for us and the animals.  I will make a free video of the entire process so that it can be replicated by others; I have a unique recipe for a Complete Veganic Fertilizer, and other valuable gardening info/perspective, that I have not seen compiled elsewhere, so my video documentation of this project will be especially valuable to gardeners all over the world.

I grew up in New York City and had no awareness of what a Natural Homestead Community is like, so another aspect of this project will be showing what some of the surrounding community is like here, for outreach to youth in inner-cities especially, to possibly inspire them to seek a lifestyle that is healthier, more peaceful, and more satisfying.  Living off the land can actually be a very enjoyable way of life (a "return to Eden" if you will), when it is limited to a homestead-scale, is not about making money, and is without using domesticated animals, i.e. when it's not associated with the slavery of humans or animals, revealing karmic law.  (If interested, I have written more on this philosophy here:  https://colindonoghue.wordpress.com/ )

I now have access to a small garden plot (partially shown in the main photo) in rural Ecuador but I do not have the means to get this project moving and completed; I have shelter covered for myself, but no source of income for basic foodstuffs and what's needed for the "huerto" (vegetable garden/orchard in Spanish).  Specifically I need to get a deep fork to till the soil, a good shovel, some smaller gardening tools, organic seeds, a lot of mulch (wood chips), a lot of compost, materials for a compost bin so I can start making my own veganic compost, bins for the other veganic fertilizer ingredients, a water catchment tank, a seaweed-making tank, a hose and small-scale irrigation materials, a wheelbarrow, truck rentals for getting the larger items over here (I don't have a vehicle, I walk and/or take the bus).  Also a fence upgrade is needed to keep out a neighbor's dog who sometimes jumps in the garden.  Any other items will be added to this list as I become aware of their need.

I look forward to becoming more self-sufficient when this garden is underway, eating most (if not all) of my meals from it; this aspect of the demonstration is crucial too; many people think growing food, and enough of it for a single household, is too hard, so they discount a natural lifestyle altogether.  I believe Veganic Homestead Living is actually the ideal ecological niche for humanity, the problem has been economic restrictions disallowing people from getting the chance to give it a real try full-time, not having the land access and/or having to work elsewhere off the land, which corrupts the ideal and keeps it out of view/expereince.  So by helping me overcome those restrictions I can show the suppressed reality of an ecological niche for humans on this planet, a niche/lifestyle that if it became widespread, could reverse and end the environmental crisis we now face.

And so this will be more than an excellent how-to gardening video when it's done; I will be demonstrating (and explaining the philosophy behind) a model for sustainable/ethical living that is in dire need of promotion, namely Veganic Homesteading, a way of life that isn't known as a viable option to most of humanity.  You can help me make this comprehensively nonviolent and sustainable way of life more well-known and easy to accomplish by helping me with this project.  I may not be able to stay in Ecuador for very long so the sooner I can get started the better.

Also you will be helping me to take part in knowledge-exchange with a traditional & indigenous community that is under threat of creeping urban sprawl and the younger generation abandoning the "casa de campo" (that's homestead in Spanish) lifestyle for the more artificial/materialist way of life that is pushed through advertising, etc.; the more people growing organic plant foods out here the better for sure.

Muchas Gracias!
