TriCity Refugee & Newcomer Project
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
The humanitarian tragedy that has developed in Syria and across the wider Middle East has forced many innocent people to flee their homes and begin new chapters of their lives here in the Tri-Cities. Fortunately, we have had the pleasure of speaking with countless people in our wonderful community who want to help ease this transition for newcomers as much as possible.
So, how can you help?
The Tri-Cities Refugee & Newcomer Project is an online charitable donation fund that will be used to assist newcomers with their specific needs & transportation costs for community engagement events. For example, upcoming events include: the Tri-Cities Bus Tour, Coquitlam City Hall Tour and Canada Day Celebrations on July 1st.
We are also searching for business sponsorships from companies that are willing to donate goods for our upcoming events.
Amazing achievements are accomplished when people work together towards a common goal. Therefore, any contribution (small or large) would be incredible. We can all do our part to make newcomers feel at home and demonstrate our commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.
We have a Task Group of involved local citizens and community leaders, and we’re already helping these new residents settle.
“Our community of Coquitlam is made up mostly of families that came from somewhere else, and I know that our community is welcoming and inclusive. This Task Group has been achieving great things over the past three months, benefitting new residents, and I know that with proper funding (even a few dollars), they’ll be able to help much more. Please, be generous, and let’s welcome our refugee newcomers properly.” — Coquitlam Mayor Richard Stewart
Thank you for your time and consideration!
Warm regards,
Co-Chairs of the Tri-Cities Refugee Task Group
Zeid Founouni, Community volunteer
Teri Towner, Coquitlam City Councillor
