Minneapolis Student Rally Bus

We want to give Twin Cities students the opportunity to join their peers at the March for Our Lives rally in Washington D.C. on 3/24.   We want to give them a chance to contribute their voice and experience the power and the importance of this movement.

To do this our plan is to rent a coach bus that seats 54 people and leave Minneapolis Thursday afternoon and return home Sunday night.   We need to raise funds to cover the cost of the bus, its drivers, inexpensive but safe lodging on the way and some meals and snacks.  Any excess funds will be donated back to the DC rally.

Please help us get our daughters, sons and other members of our community out to DC for this historic event.

Hello Friends and Family, supporters all of the Twin Cities Student Bus Rally. Well, we did it! 2,300 miles and 77 hours to D.C. and back...what a journey. The students who served as the inspiration for this trip had an inspiring experience of their own as the founders of the Never Again movement and many of their peers delivered impassioned speeches, including Emma Gonzales's 4+ minutes of deafening silence. And then there was the energy of the crowd that some say was 800,000 strong, the largest to ever gather in D.C. Whether it was or wasn't, it was a sea of people, mostly students, who gathered peacefully to embrace this movement. Our bus load of students were able to soak all of this in, share their own thoughts/feelings out, both with each other and at the rally, and leave both exhausted and exhilarated. Of course, none of this could have happened without you. We raised a little over $19,000 and had to spend a little under $19,000 to get the 54 of us there and back. Once all of the budget dust settles, the students will choose an MN charity for any surplus we have. Thank you again and please know that your donation directly impacted 43 young lives, some of them forever. Michael

Hello Friends and Supporters, thank you for your continued well-wishes and donations. We're just over 24 hours from departing and of course all kinds of last minute preparations are underway. I will keep you posted on our progress and our social media savvy students will be chronicling our journey on Facebook and Instagram, so stay tuned for links to those platforms. This is all very exciting and, as you know, very important. More soon. Michael

Hello Big-Hearted Donors,

My name is Michael Keller. I am the Twin Cities Student Bus Rally trip organizer. My primary role (and the role of 9 other chaperones) is to support 44 amazing students in their quest to get to Washington D.C. for the March For Our Lives on March 24th.

In my role, I handle the logistics for our travels and with some student help, I set up this campaign. In that context, I want to thank you again for your generous donations. You helped us reach and exceed our goal. If we have any funds leftover after our trip's costs have been covered, we plan to donate them to a related Minnesota based charity of the students' choosing.

What are our funds, really your funds, covering? We will be allocating our funds to cover the bus's 2300 mile round trip, the 51 cheap-but-clean-and-safe hotel room nights, meals for 56 people over 3.5 days and various fees. Wow! We could not have done this without you.

I have already withdrawn some of these funds, in my name, to cover many of these costs and I will soon withdraw the remainder to cover the balance.

Thank you again for your support and stay tuned for some incredible updates and stories from the road.

Michael

To the over 100 people who have donated to this campaign so far, THANK YOU! You gifts and your words are an inspiration. The students and their chaperones are excited. Our bus is nearly full, with only a few spots left. Our route out east and our lodging are all set. This is a 77 hour road trip, with over 40 of those hours on the bus, the bus that you helped fund. Please help us to continue to spread the word to help us reach our goal of $17,000. More news soon. Michael
