Radio Assenna is an independent radio station which aims to promote freedom of expression and democratic culture in Eritrea. It connects the Eritrean diapora with the people back home.
Due to the open, inclusive and progressive media culture it has moulded since its inception, Eritreans inside and outside the country, as well as individuals and organisations interested in Eritrea refer it as one of the most relevant Eritrean media outlets.
On top of producing and disseminating original content about Eritrea, Assenna has succeeded in providing and maintaining a free and independent alternative forum for Eritreans. It also generates interactive user content and prides itself for being a media outlet for the voiceless.
Assenna broadcasts 24/7 via satellite & one hour, 2 days a week shortwave radio program to Eritrea and its neighbouring countries, including the Middle East. It has online radio streaming on assenna.com as well.
To cover satellite transmission and operational fee
Radio Assenna depends on its audience's voluntary financial contribution.
The public donation is needed to keep Radio Assenna on the airwaves to continue informing and inspiring the people suffocated by a repressive system.
