Hello there! My name is Mia Karine. I’m a 14-year-old field hockey player from Northern California. I am beyond excited and proud to say that I was selected to play in the 2018 National Futures Championship in Pennsylvania, June 18-21!
As part of the Futures program (Olympic Development Program for field hockey), I played in the annual Regional tournament. I was lucky enough to be one of nine players chosen in my age group to compete at the National Futures Championship from the west coast region!
My Olympic Dream
Since I was little, I’ve dreamed of competing in the Olympics. And for me, being selected and taking this big step towards completing my Olympic dream is a huge achievement.
By playing in this championship, I will know how I stack up against other field hockey players my age around the country. I will also meet amazing field hockey coaches and players, learn what I need to improve to compete at the next level, and get even closer to making my Olympic dream come true.
How You Can Help
The cost of this trip includes:
- National Futures fee - $350
- Airfare/rental car/lodging/food - $1,520
I am doing what I can by planning a garage sale, selling books, and refereeing soccer games. But, I still need a lot of help to cover all of the expenses and I don’t have much time. I need to register by June 1st and that’s just 2 weeks away.
