Support Earthquake Victims in Nepal

Donation protected

The April 25th & May 12 massive Earthquakes have desperately destroyed the ancient historical monuments of Nepal, many houses in and outside of Kathmandu valley. Many houses in rural villages have been destroyed. Unfortunately, more than 8,500 people have aleady lost their life; more than 22,000 people are injured, many are still missing. About 8 million people have been affected; many of them are homeless. One of those affected village is Jyamrung Village (110 miles away from Kathmandu), inhabitants of about 8,500 people and 1,600 households, ) and other neighboring villages, which have been completely damaged.

Among the 11 community schools, 9 schools have completely been damaged. To reconstruct the community school, we are doing a fundraising campaign. We would like to humbly request you all fellow Rotarians, nonRotarians and well-wishers to support us in such a humanitarian cause.

Your generous supports are highly appreciated.

Your small contribution makes a difference!

Faithfully yours,

Some background about myself:

My name is Tilak Thapa Magar. My family and I are live in Kathmandu. I'm a Tourism Enterpreniour, the Founder and Managing Director of Nepal Trailblazer Trekking Pvt. Ltd. (www.nepalhiking.com) and Accessible Adventure Travels Pvt. Ltd. (www.accessible-adventure.com), sells trekking tours and other tailor made packages in Nepal. I'm also a rotarian from Nepal (district 3292), and the Incoming Secretary of Rotary Club of Kathmandu North East.

I arrived in Philadelphia on March 19 to join the Adventure Travel Show for 2 days; then I've been traveling to many cities as a Rotary Fellowship trip by visiting many rotary clubs here in the States. The places I have already visited are Philadelphia, New York City, Buffalo, Baltimore, Washington DC, Chicago, Westmont, Bloomington and Springfield. I will be in USA till June 12, 2015.

During the time, I have already visited more than 25 rotary clubs including Rotary No. 1 in Chicago. The purposes of my visit here are:

A: To get rotary ideas, and bring back home and share with my club, fellow rotarians and friends.

B. Through the Rotary Organization we  have many service projects to do in rural villages of Nepal (such as in Jyamrung, the adopted village by our club) on water and sanitation, toilets, health post with birthing center, literacy, school building, vocational training etc... I made many presentations during my visit to rotary clubs regarding my project plan. To do these projects in large scale, we need some international partners. So, I'm here to keep personal contact with rotary clubs and fellow rotarians.

Now my scheme in somehow has been changed due to unexpected massive earthquake last week in Nepal. Fortunately, my family is safe!

As of now, unfortunately more than 8,500 people have been died; and more than 22,000 people have been injured, many are being missed, and thousands of thousands houses have been damanged.

Through this fundraising from collective fund, I would like to support for reconstruction of community schools which have been desperately damaged by the earthquakes.
