The Sun Foundation needs your help
I created this Go Fund Me Fundraiser to help a wonderful organization that I have had the great pleasure to be a part of over the years. I have witnesed the hard work and dedication to helping our children and youth succeed in life and become stewards of our earth with asking nothing in return.
The continued decline in grants and funding has been a challenge for the Sun Foundation and I'm hoping we can raise funds to help keep the Sun Shining. All donations go 100% to the Sun Foundation and it's programs.
We need your help to raise funds for for general administration and transportation for the children to attend this years Clean Water Celebration and Classrooms at the Peoria Civic Center on April 17th and 18th 2016.
To date 52,000 students and their teachers have participated in the FREE program …We average 2800 students and 150 teachers each year…It is a regional program drawing 46 schools last year…
All Sponsors will be acknowledged at the event and in other Sun Foundation publications and public media if applicable so any size donation is greatly appreciated.
The Sun Foundations, Clean Water Celebration encourages us to learn to improve water quality, to think critically and creatively about adequate and safe water supplies, and to promote the wise use of natural resources.
The program teaches middle and high school students how to become stewards for the environment and water resources both locally and globally.
There are 4 major parts to the Classroom:
The STREAMS taught by biologists about water shed protection , recycling, and Aquatics.
Over 40 interactive exhibits, 2 keynote programs in the theater, and 21 breakout sessions by scientists and artists. All components of the program match up with State learning goals and STEM….playing an important role in education achievement.
…The program has received many awards and was noted by the EPA director to be one of the most important classrooms in the world…
.... Many internationally and nationally accredited scientists have keynoted for the program…
Keynote sessions are presented to large audiences or these students to create a base of knowledge that will help them be better waste stewards. Smaller breakout sessions focus on specific water quality issues that teachers can choose for their classes to study.
