The "Order of Franciscan Hermits " is an Ecumenical Association of Christians who follow the Simple Way of Life of St. Francis of Assisi. We work to promote LOVE and WORLD PEACE through Contemplative Prayer, and working with the poor and suffering in the world. We have over 2090 Members and Associates in over 50 countries worldwide. Each member works independently in their community and is responsible for their own finances.
The former motel in Arizona is for sale again which would be perfect as a monastery/hermitage suitable for 10-12 OFH Members & Associates and the people we Serve. Each Member would have their own living quarters to ensure their Solitude and Silence, but other common structures would be available such as a Chapel, Library, Refectory/Kitchen, Classroom etc. where community time would be spent together.
Although a Monastery, we would be open to giving refuge to homeless who would be willing to respect and participate in our way of life. I am currently aware of at least 4 homeless people who we would be able to immediately help, and would share in our Spiritual journey. The property is directly across the street from a low-income food bank. The town only has a population of 446 people and most are at or below the poverty level and elderly. This community is desparate for a Loving Presence of Hope, and the Order of Franciscan Hermits would like to Serve them.
Per the requirements of the OFH guidelines, each Monastery is run Independently and Separately from the Order of Fransican Hermits as its own non-profit organization. Since this property has not been purchased yet, the non-profit has not been set up. If you would like to make a large donation and would prefer to have the non-profit organization created/approved prior to your donation, please contact me so we can start that process ASAP.
