Help Shariece Keep Her Apartment!

Dear community of organizers, activists, artists, mentors, and allies,
As a Black, formerly undocumented and queer immigrant, the most valuable lesson I have learned is that without my community, I wouldn’t be alive. And now, I need your help to secure housing, and food for my friend, mentor and fellow ARTivist, Shariece.
Shariece is a powerful undocumented Black femme that believes in the power of intersectional feminism to create pro-Black, pro-queer, pro-trans, and pro-migrant spaces, but she can’t do this while facing eviction, and unemployment. As a Caribbean migrant living in Miami, not qualifying for DACA, barely having family in the states, and having multiple health issues, Shariece needs our love, and support.
I am asking you to be an ally, and donate to help Shariece continue to fight for the collective liberation of our Undocumented and Black community. Our experiences as undocumented and Black immigrants often put us in positions of vulnerability, meaning that sometimes, we have to be held by those that claim to be in solidarity with us. Together, we can stop Shariece from losing her apartment, and provide safety and security for her!
It is my hope that we, as a community, can raise $6,000 for Shariece to help her pay for delayed rent-payments, assure the next three months of housing, and secure food for her.
In the words of Assata Shakur, “It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains.”
