New Playscape for Scout Park

The Hazel Park Recreation Department is seeking funds for a new play structure in Scout Park. Over the course of the last decade our City has experienced a significant economic downturn. This has adversely affected the amount of revenue that our Recreation Department can devote to park improvements; consequently we must seek alternative funding sources.
The play structure that is currently in Scout Park is in desperate need of replacement due to years of usage and outdoor exposure. The proposed construction would replace the deteriorated wooden structure with a fitness-inspired playscape that promotes movement and activity. Adding a new structure would greatly improve the overall condition and aesthetic of Scout Park.
The cost of the playscape is $17,953.00, which includes shipping costs and an installation fee. We are receiving a matching grant from the seller, GameTime, in the amount of $6,087.54. Donations are being sought to cover the remaining cost of $12,668.37. The installation will be carried out by a Certified Playground Safety Inspector. Thus far, we have raised $1,460 for this campaign. These donations were received via check and therefore do not show up on the total above. However, we are deducting this money from the needed amount (leaving a total of $11,290).
With the construction of this play structure we wish to encourage overall public health in the City of Hazel Park through physical activity and fitness. Any potential contributions would greatly aid our efforts in facilitating this goal. Donors of $200.00 or more will receive recognition on signage that will be located near the newly-constructed playscape.
