 SACRAMENTO, CA
Jose “Wes” Santamaria was struck by a hit-and-run driver early Sunday morning while bicycling home along Land Park roadway in Sacramento.  He had left work after a 12 hour work shift and is a chef by trade.  The person that hit Wes seriously injured him and nearly killed him.  He suffers from several broken bones, including his spinal cord, collar bone, vertebra, spleen, wrists and ribs.  He had to undergo 11 hours of surgery and is currently in ICU fighting for his life with internal bleeding from his lungs and kidneys.  His family was told that he would never walk again.  Not only is this an unthinkable tragedy that one person could do to another and then leave him to fight for his life alone, but now leaving his entire family helpless without any financial support is devastating.

Wes is a devoted husband of 23 years, a wonderful father of two children, and a grandfather to a beautiful little girl.  Wes has always been a hardworking man that puts his family first.

Family, Friends, and New Friends – we ask with sincere hearts that you please help lighten the burden of this tragedy by donating towards the unexpected medical and daily living expenses to assist the family with this undeserving tragedy.  Any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your support, love, and prayers.

After two long weeks my dad has been cleared to come home. He will continue to be seen for his injuries including his broken clavicle, and his surgery. Physical therapy can not be done at this time due to his recent surgery and broken ribs. Eventually physical therapy will be needed. He will continue to walk with a walker with helps of others. We will continue to keep his spirits up during this long recovery. We are all very thankful, and blessed everyone is helping us. I read every name and message that people leave to my dad and it puts a smile on his face.

Thank you all again,
The Santamarias.

Our father is no longer in ICU! He is in a regular room and staff is watching over him closely. Doctors are unsure of how successful the surgery will be. He is able to move with help of others. Small steps can be taken with the help of a walker and two nurses distributing his weight. Recovery will take a long time but with all your support, and prayers we will all encourage our dad to keep fighting.

Our father is making great progress. His lungs are returning to regular function. In his left lung he currently still has a lung drainer. He is currently in ICU until he is out of critical condition. Will continue to post updates as progression occurs.

Thank you all for all your love and support in this difficult time.
