I keep trying to find a way to share my story of what roller derby means to me, or what it has done for me. Roller derby didn't save my soul. It saved my sanity, and I'm pretty sure it saved my life. The person that I was before derby was making a lot of terrible life choices and was heading down a self-destructive path. Joining my previous league got me started on a much healthier life path, but it wasn't until I joined SVRD that I realized how much more I am capable of. Please help us save our practice space.

Just over a year and a half ago when I started Roller Derby I discovered a new family. We are very lucky to be skating in such a wonderful place, please help us keep our home so we can continue to grow as not only a league but as a family. Roller Derby has helped me be in a better state of mind and has pushed me to do things that I never thought I would be able to do.

Skagit Valley Roller Derby has helped me to discover a strength and sense of ability - one where I appreciate and have a by far better understanding of what I can accomplish - that I wasn't even aware that I possessed. I've seen the same happen with every lady who skates with us. Over the past two years, SVRD has been blessed to have fantastic places to skate it - something that would not be possible without the continued love and support of our faithful friends and family. Thank you so much - this is a really, REALLY good thing that you are supporting!

Playing rollerderby provides amazing opportunities for the personal growth of women and girls. It stresses teamwork, communication, toughness, passion, commitment, and the power of diversity. As a player and coach, I have seen skaters push themselves to become more athletic and mentally strong than they ever thought possible and to acquire more self confidence and self esteem than they had before. Personally, rollerderby has allowed me to discover my inner warrior who is feisty, competitive and daring. Thank you SVRD for making this possible for so many skaters and for being a part of my family. Please help SVRD keep our beautiful facility open. Thank you.

The Skateway and Skagit Valley Roller Derby have been my family and home away from home for the last two years. I'm a little girl with a big heart and love the challenge and impact of a tough, hard hitting sport. We've come so far as a league since Biggie first opened the door in 2012! We've grown from a handful of beginners to three competitive teams with new candidate training programs every few months! Training and competing in our own facility is a joy and a blessing that we need continuous help to sustain. Please consider becoming a league sponsor. The advertising opportunities are awesome. Please consider making a financial donation. Derby girls throughout our community thank you for your support!

We are very lucky to be skating in the facility that we are at, I don't know where else in Skagit County that we would have such a great place to skate. Seeing all the donations coming in to help support our quest to save our building is heartwarming. Becoming part of SVRD has been an amazing adventure not just for me but for my daughter. I feel very blessed that both Amber and I are able to skate here with such an amazing group of people. We are not just a bunch of skaters that get together a couple times a week to skate, we are a family. We are very lucky to have 3 teams now at SVRD and I know that we would all love to watch the program grow to include more. Thank you to everyone for their support!!!

Being a wife and mom of two, I have not given myself time for friends or myself in the past. 6 months ago I decided to change that and give derby a try, the people at this facility were so warm and welcoming, which made me feel like I belonged, so I joined SVRD. I look forward to every practice, to sweat and to push myself to my limits, and after I feel complete rejuvenation. My teammates also give me a push to reach my full potential, and I love being surrounded by strong women with a mutual love for this sport, that I can call my friends.

Roller derby has provided many of us with a healthy outlet for stress and frustration, but it is so much more than a rigorous sport. It helps you tap into a you you never knew was there- a strong, brave you. We show up to stretch our physical limits. It's an added bonus that we just happen to like each other a lot too. The track is a magical place!
