SVHS GREEN TEAM

The Scotts Valley High Schol "Green Team" is a student/teacher/parent collaboration committed to sustainable gardening and living. Our core mission is to educate our community on the values of sustainable living and promote their use throughout Santa Cruz County. 

We are currently undertaking a Community Garden and Landscape Project and while our primary concern is to spread awareness, we would truly appreciate any and all donations. 

The Community Garden and Landscape Project: We have successfully constructed the first fully sustainable organic garden in the Santa Cruz County public school district. A water catchment system complete with two 1,000 gallon tanks, along with solar pumper irrigation is now being used to grow our first winter crop of vegetables like lettuce, kale, chard and more. These vegetables are all used in our school cafeteria to bring healthier food choices to our students and improve their nutrition intake. With the completion of our first organic garden, we intend to landscape our entire school with a similar sustainable strategy in mind. Our next step along with landscaping is to build our compost and waste recycling program so that we can minimize our impact on landfills. 

Now, we need funds to purchase the materials for the new composting, recycling, and landscaping program! Please help us in any way you can!
