Rally Round Riley

$72,180 of $100,000 goal

Raised by 1,342 people in 24 months

On the 8th of May 2016, Riley woke up vomiting and had a temp. Typical symptoms many 1yr olds have when getting sick. As time passed Riley got worse and he could barely move a muscle. Something wasn't right but no one could have imagined just what was about to happen. Riley was taken to seek medical advice and was told out of precaution he should go to the Womens and Childrens Hospital.  The hospital was an hour and a half drive away and by the time the family arrived he was covered in a rash from head to toe. Doctors took one look at him and he was quickly rushed out the back where he was sedated, put on a breathing tube and pumped full of antibiotics and once stabilised the family were told it was meningococcal b and the first 24hrs were critical and he had a very high chance he wouldn't make it through. Riley suprised everyone with how strong he was and how hard he was going to fight for his life and he has won the battle but not without sacrifices.  Riley has always been an outgoing boy who spent all his time playing outside either in the backyard or at the park and after a long battle and alot of obstacles is now a 4 limb amputee and has had to have skin grafting to the majority of his body.  He has spent the last 4 months in hospital and doctors have no plan on discharging him anytime soon. We hope to raise money for the the ongoing care and support Riley needs, including prosthetics and gadgets to help him with everyday tasks. If you want to help by donating thank you and for those who just want to leave a supportive message Riley would love to hear from you :) xx

Over a year after Riley got sick and still going strong with raising awareness and raising funds for our little champion. He even surprised everyone with getting up on stage and thanking everyone for coming. I could not be prouder of him and the things he’s doing!

We are currently in the process of getting him his first set of feet and a mini walker, it’s going to be difficult but I know he’s keen to try and if all goes well we will be on the way to getting him walking again and getting actual legs so he’s the same height as his friends.

I can’t wait to post pictures once this happens as any proud mum would so keep your eyes open for the next update & keep up the good work with raising awareness xxx

12 months ago to the date we were rushed into the emergency room with Riley fighting for his life with doctors flooding in around us. From a happy, loving life little boy to critical in the space of a few hours, he fought and fought and is still fighting and winning ❤️

Picture below is Riley today! We can't express how proud we all are of you and how brave you have been! Bring on the next 12 months and keep showing us how clever you are xx

Big thank you again to all the doctors, specialists and nurses at the women's and children's hospital! Riley wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you guys and the amazing work you do everyday!! Xx
12 months later... ❤️❤️❤️
