REFORMATION 2016: SWEDEN

Pope Francis will travel to Sweden this October to assist in the launch of a year-long commemoration of the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther’s nailing of his 95 theses to the door of the castle church of Wittenberg on October 31, 1517, officially launching the Protestant Reformation. This will be a joint Lutheran-Catholic commemoration of this critical historic event. It will feature a liturgy in Lund cathedral, followed by a public event at an arena in the nearby city of Malmö (See Video Below).
