RBSS Art Activism Scholarship
Donation protected
For Canada's 150th anniversary, the Robert Bateman Art Activism class is creating an art exhibition addressing the challenges refugees from around the world face as they integrate into life in Abbotsford. Our students have met and interviewed eleven members of our community who have come to Abbotsford as refugees, and are now working to represent their stories through large-scale paintings.
The goal of this exhibition is to fundraise for a post-secondary scholarship for grade 12 students who have come to Abbotsford as refugees fleeing persecution. Please donate to our scholarship to help us with this iniative.
Immigration is part of the social fabric of our country and is central to what it means to be Canadian, and we want to care for our newcomers as a community. There is a long list of people who have come to our country and made Canada stronger and more vibrant, and that is why it’s important to reach out to newcomers and build these community connections.
Community Partners: Abbotsford Community Services, the City of Abbotsford, Black Press, the Abbotsford Arts Council, and The Kariton Gallery
