Hello all, my name is Steve Fred and it's been days since me and my family from New York City have last heard from my grandmother in Fajardo, Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria destroyed her town.
She is diabetic and has systolic heart failure (her heart is working at 50% capacity). She needs her daily medication to survive.
My mother and I are flying out to Puerto Rico but the American Airline is charging over $1,000/ticket one way. We also need a generator since we're expecting to be out of power for weeks, maybe even months.
Please help us find our abuela and the rest of our family on the island. Any amount is appreciated and please keep Puerto Rico in your prayers.

Update: Hello all, my family has finally been able to contact my grandmother in Puerto Rico.
We called the telephone company 'Claro', who connected her phone number to their cell service and allowed us to contact each other. She ensures us that she is safe but she has no access to clean water and food. We have sent her money from this campaign via Western Union (the Walmart near her home has a Western Union inside) for the meantime until it is safe for us to go to Puerto Rico (San Juan is still flooded and officials have advised against traveling to Puerto Rico until the power is up and running.
She was able to withdraw the money and buy food and water at the Walmart but she is still living without electricity.
All donations will go to:
- Buying a generator and gas for electricity
- Food and water
- House repairs
- Medication
- Plane tickets for my mother and I
Since we're not able to travel to Puerto Rico just yet, all money will be sent via Western Union.

Han pasado cinco días desde que mi familia ha escuchado algo sobre mi abuela en Fajardo, Puerto Rico desde que el huracán María destruyó la ciudad.
Ella es diabética y tiene insuficiencia cardíaca sistólica (su corazón solo trabaja al 50% de capacidad). Ella necesita su medicación diaria para sobrevivir.
Mi madre y yo estamos volando a Puerto Rico, pero la aerolínea Estadounidense está cobrando más de $1000 dólares por boleto en ida nada mas.
A nuestra llegada, también necesitaremos un generador porque no tendremos electricidad por semanas, tal vez incluso meses.
Por favor, ayúdenos a encontrar nuestra abuela y al resto de nuestra familia en la isla. Cualquier cantidad es apreciada y por favor mantenga a Puerto Rico en sus oraciones.
