Give the ArtsCafe a security system

ArtsCafe in Manor Park has been providing the Hither Green community with an open arts space, great coffee, cool music and good vibes since 2014. In 2016 the ArtsCafe team, Fred and Banu, had a community shed installed in the park next to the cafe - with a lockable side with toys for children to play with and an open side for any passing park user to use all year round.

Sadly, the shed has been the target of vandals, who have kicked in panels, forced open locks and also accessed the roof to attempt to cause damage. This damage has to be made good every time, which takes time and money, and contributes negatively to the atmosphere of the area.


Police have attended these incidents recently, although missing the perpetrators by mere minutes - this is not a sustainable approach. Prevention would be better!

The shed, and park, are there for us all to use and continue to enjoy.

We would like to try to raise money to install a cctv or alarm system in the building and area around the ArtsCafe, to keep the area safe from vandalism and to help protect a safe, clean (and Green Flag winning) space in our neighbourhood. Our target of £500 should ensure we can help provide a reliable system and anything else needed to keep the park safe.

The CCTV unit I've found would record, store and view images only on-site at the ArtsCafe, not anywhere else (to help with user privacy and protection concerns). Though the recordings can be viewed on a connected Smartphone, I'm told that Fred and Banu don't have one.
