Wow, I can't believe it's almost November!
I want to thank everyone again for supporting the PDX Black Women's Luncheon, last month.

I am revamping this campaign, as an ongoing funding source for the PDX Black Feminism group.

The purpose is to continue the work we started in September, with meetings, self-care activities, and community work.

This will hopefully accumulate into a larger event in June 2018, which will be open to allies.

Please continue to support and/or share with networks.
If you no longer wish to stay connected to this campaign,  I believe gofundme proves an option to unsubscribe.

We are working on another meeting in December. The gathering will be a celebration of the holidays, as well as a time for reflection. There's been a lot happening, especially in politics. What does the future hold for Black Women/Non-Binary people? We will explore our next step for 2018.

In December, we would love to have Kwanzaa themed meal provided by a local Black woman caterer (check out the photo of one of her delicious meals!)

Donations contributed to this campaign, will be used to host this event.

Please use gofund to message me, if you want to stay connected, but not via this campaign. I will forward you PDX Black Feminism's new email address.

Once again about me...

My name is Tonya Jones and I am the founder of Portland, Oregon's Women of Color Zine Workshops . I'm also the facilitator of PDX Black Feminism . I write a blog dedicated to media representations of Black women ("See Me" ).

Thank you again for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Tonya

Hello! I hope all is well. It's almost summer, which means exciting happenings for PDX Black Women's Feminism!

Next month, we will be hosting a Juneteenth celebration.

"Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. Note that this was two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation - which had become official January 1, 1863."

This gathering will be open to members and friends/family. We want to make it a fun event with music, refreshments, and treats!

Please think about making a donation to support our work and/or promote this campaign. It's truly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Tonya :)

Hello everyone!

As we move into May, I want to re-energize our gofundme. In early April, PDX Black Feminism hosted a meetup. It was an opportunity to discuss the issue of Black women and sexual violence.

Refreshments were provided by Black woman owned DB Dessert Company.

Our next gathering will be in June. We will be celebrating Juneteenth.

In honor of Mother's Day, we are proud promoters of National Bail Out/Black Mama's Bail Out event in May.

Please consider our campaign, as well as National Bail Out day for donations and support.

Thank you,

Tonya :)

It's spring! The season of rebirth, rejuvenation and renewal. This is a great time to reflect on the ways to support marginalized/oppressed voices/activism.

Please share our funding campaign with networks and/or make a donation. Every little bit helps!

Sincerely,
Tonya :)

Ahhh...spring is in the air!
