Cornell School District Outreach

Cornell School District serves roughly 670 students in one K - 12 building. About 65 % of the students in this district are on free and/or reduced lunch. The outside of the building itself is in good repair, but the inside is in need of a face lift. Although greatly maintained by maintenance staff, the paint, desks, chairs, tables, decorations, etc. are drab, out of date, and in need of great repair. In a part of the school, there are partitioned walls, which are only there as a place holder for real walls.

Student PSEA (Pennsylvania State Education Association) is an organization for aspiring educators that perform a service project every year at a different public school that is in need. We chose Cornell School District to service with an Outreach to Teach project to not only beautify their school environment, but impact their community. Most of the students are of low economic status, and struggle to make ends meet. We want to brighten their lives by making their school a place they want to come to everyday.

Our plan is to paint murals and inspirational quotes, purchase furniture to replace outdated items, and partner with the teachers and students to showcase their artwork in their school. We want to help with school morale and pride by showcasing their mascot even more throughout their school.

Help us assist students and teachers in this school district to have a school that is a great one to come into and unite a community together through service.
