Not every decision we make in life is the right one, however when it comes to our children there isn’t any question that we only want to ensure their happiness. At No Limits Laois that’s our one and only goal to ensure that children with intellectual disabilities and their families getting the full benefits of participation, interactive play and social inclusion.
So, you’re now wondering who are these chancers looking for my hard-earned money? No Limits Laois is a unique non-for profit facility, providing customised programmes for all children & young adults with special needs, helping to improve their cognitive, social, communicational and motor skills through play and person centred learning.
We also provide work experience for young adults with autism, many of whom were past members of our camps. Open six days a week, for clients with intellectual and sensory challenges, including Autism, ADHD and Down Syndrome since July 2014, in that time we’ve provided services and much needed respite for their respective families for over 8,583 participants and growing.
Unfortunately, however our future and more importantly that of our proposed Special Needs Preschool is now in serious jeopardy due to a promised private investment to our organisation, not materialising at the last minute and other crippling costs hidden from us when taking on the new building, however we’ve taken the decision to with extremely heavy hearts to step away from that building and its unsustainability and focus on fund raising.
However, whilst we remain totally committed in our quest to open a unique Special Needs Preschool and move forward with our plans to roll out our workshops nationwide, none of this is possible without investment and in the past 3years we’ve always been self-sufficient, using the nominal admission fees to pay bills and never looked for the public’s help but it’s time to swallow our pride and do just that.
Run full-time, entirely by professional volunteers, we maintain professional accounts and have consistently invested in our loyal volunteers to ensure that their childcare qualifications are up to date, empowered & trained those same volunteers to become SNA’s and ploughed everything we make into providing our services. Something however we aren’t and never wish to be is just another advocacy group, we’ve zero interest in lobbying politicians or the health service, we are fully committed to providing our special needs Preschool, special needs afterschool service, midterm and summer camps and respite for parents and guardians just not available elsewhere.
However, in order to do that we prefer to look to fund raising directly from the community around us, those that most benefits from our service and not sell our souls and lose the ability to stay impartial, unique and make a true difference and that’s why we need whatever donation no matter how big or small you can offer.
