Magic for Pedrogao Grande Children

In June of 2017, 64 people lost their lives in the tragic Pedrogao Grande, Portugal wildfires and thousands were impacted by the loss of livelihood and property. This tragedy made headlines all over the world.
The New York Portuguese American Community soon gathered to fundraise for the victims and, 100% of these funds were delivered directly to the victims with the aid of the Castanheira de Pera, FIgueiro de Vinhos and Pedrogao Grande volunteer fire departments.
During the last delivery of funds, on December 4, 2017 in Pedrogao Grande, the New York Portuguese American Leadership Conference (NYPALC) leadership saw and felt first hand the impact of the Pedrogao Grande wildfires on the local children, who continue to experience trauma in response to all that they witnessed and as survivors of this tragedy.
In an attempt to give the children of this region a moment of distraction and magic, NYPALC has agreed to fundraise to sponsor 428 school-age children of the towns affected by this tragedy (Castanheira de Pera, Figueiro dos VInhos and Pedrogao Grande) to see the "Disney on Ice - Uma Viagem Magica" show at the Altice Arena in Lisbon in March of 2018. Each Town governing body has committed to secure the necessary transportation for this day trip.
Please join NYPALC in bringing these children a moment of joy and magic by sponsoring a ticket for one child - the price of each ticket is €15 (approximately $18.10). No donation will be too small.
