NYNFC - Earthquake Relief in Nepal
Nepal just got hit with a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake. Hundreds are dead and the number will certainly increase as the search and rescue operations continue. The capital,Kathmandu is destroyed structurally. Ancient temples and building have collapsed. Hundreds of years of history is in the verge of being wiped out. Death tolls are rising. As of now almost 1500 people have lost their lives.
This fundraiser is on behalf of New York Nepalese Football Club (NYNFC). We are a registered soccer club in the greater metro area of NY and our membership is open to all Nepalese who are passionate about the game. We are raising funding to insure that the victims get support such as food, shelter and clothing. This campaign will be used to generate money online alongside a "Help Nepal" event at jackson Height, NY on April 26, 2015.
The president for our club Mr. Wang La Lama is currently visiting Nepal. He will insure that all the funding generated from gofunme campain and the event will be spent to help the emergency relief operation. He is personally going to hand relief packages to rescue operations.
Any help would be appreciated!
I have new updates about the event. First of all, the event was much more that we all had expected. Thanks to our generous family, friends and anyone who joined for the program.
We generated about $22000 that will be used to help needy victims. We also did a candle light ceremony. The event successfully ended at around 9 pm EST.
We had a surprise visit from our very own fashion designer, Prabal Gurung. He help generated funds for donation as well. Thank you Prabal Gurung for you love and support.
We are still a long way from what we want to accomplish online. Please spread the words and help us reach our goal.
I will keep on updating you all.
We started our "Help Nepal" event in Jackson Heights, NY today at 10 am. The event has been very successful. We are overwhelmed by the number of friends and families who came to support this event. We are truly thankful.
These are few updates:
- We have generated over $13000 and counting.
- There will be candle lighting ceremony after 6:30 pm.
If you were not able to attend the event, you can always place you donation on this gofundme page. Even though we have accumulated $13000 we are in desperate need for more support.
Updates from Nepal:
- People have slept outside in tents. They are not feeling safe to go inside their own home.
- Nepal is still getting aftershocks. Earlier this morning they had a 6.8 magnitude quake.
- People are in need of food supply, water supply and blood supply.
- Hospitals are packed and people are being treated on roadside.
The terror has not settled yet. There is panic and there is scarcity of resources. Your donation will contribute towards supplying emergency relief to the victims. So please contribute at your will.
God Bless You All.
