Mommy Christmas Project

The Mommy Christmas Project was created to raise money to buy Christmas gifts for the residents of the Bayard House.

Two months ago, I emailed the Bayard House, a residential facility for at risk, homeless teens and young women who are pregnant or newly parenting. I requested a Christmas list for each girl currently residing at the house. I set no parameters as to what they could ask for other than at least one item for themselves in addition to items related to their babies. The lists came back a few weeks ago for six young women and their babies. Not one item was unreasonable to ask for, just typical things that you or I may take for granted and pick up at Wal-Mart on any given day. They have been told to not expect to receive everything on their lists. We'll I want to give them everything on their lists and then some. I want to show them that others out there value them and want to help them get a better start into the challenging journey of parenthood.

Since my YA novel, Escape the Pain to Survive released, I have been raising money through profits from book sales and taking donations for some of the items on their lists. I've now opened a Go Fund Me campaign to raise more money for this project as I only have about a month to go before I start buying and wrapping gifts and sorting donations. Really when you think about it, all it would take is 100 people to donate $5 and we'll reach the goal of $500. If giving $5 just isn't something you can do right now, please simply just share this page. With one share, hundreds of others will see and even if one chooses to give, your share made a difference.
