Family Always Comes First!
On April 26, 2018 the Nicholas Family was delivered some devastating news regarding their first born daughter, Mollie Elizabeth Nicholas (born November 6, 2017). Mollie has a very severe congenital brain abnormality called Subcortical Band Heterotopia. It is very rare and it is genetic, however the Doctors believe the gene was not passed down, but mutated on its own. Basically her brain cells did not migrate in the brain to where they needed to be while Mollie was developing in the womb. Mollie has the most severe form. It is very possible that she will never walk or talk and will definitely not have the life they had hoped for her.
The Doctors are still trying to get the spasms or seizures stopped, and will be adjusting the medication over the next few weeks as they monitor her EEGs (Brain Wave Monitoring).
Sara and Dave have decided to live life to the fullest with Mollie!! They are going to LOVE their little girl with all of their hearts and do everything they can for her.
They ask that you do not feel sorry for them, but LOVE Mollie as much as they do!
