We Need Your Help!! Please support us in our mission trip to Guatemala in February, 2017.
We are a group from Central Christian Church in Ocala, Florida. We take seriously God’s word in Galatians 5: 13 “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather serve one another humbly in love.” Feeling called to help others, our church reaches out to those in the community and in the mission field. We are being called to help a very poor community in Guatemala with the help of Life of Hope Ministries.
Life of Hope Ministries was established in the 1990’s with the desire to help the street children in Latin America. Street children may be defined as homeless, abandoned by their families or runaways. Unicef identifies children of the street as home based, returning home at night, or street based, remaining on the street with no support. The average age of entry to the street life is 9 years old. Land reform, population growth, drought, rural to urban migration, economic recession, unemployment, poverty, and violence have all been implicated as causes of this problem. Underlying this breakdown of the family as a social problem is the fact that these children are subject to drug abuse, trauma and starvation. Life of Hope’s focus in Guatemala is based on sharing the love and knowledge of God while working with the children and families living in at-risk or street situations.
We would greatly appreciate your support in prayer as we prepare for our trip. If you are able to help support us financially as well we would feel doubly blessed! We are estimating $1200 per person for airfare and food. We hope to take a group of eleven on this medical mission trip in February. Our prayer is to help this community in many ways. Thank you so very much!
