MIKE'S STORY:

On a typical Tuesday night, Mike Hage is usually at home alone after working at Golden Technologies in Old Forge, PA. But on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, Mike did something a little different. Mike loves music and chose that night to audition for a place in the band for the Little Theater of Wilkes-Barre's upcoming production of Rock of Ages. Mike wasn't feeling right, so he sat down. Lucky for Mike the production team noticed something odd. Show director Tom Franko (a practicing Pharmacist) noticed that Mike wasn't sure where he was or of his name, so the show staff including Dr. Franko,  music director Joey James, and sound designer/marketing manager John Dawe (who Mike went to High School with) called 911.

Thinking it was

On a typical Tuesday night, Mike Hage is usually at home alone after working at Golden Technologies in Old Forge, PA. But on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, Mike did something a little different. Mike loves music and chose that night to audition for a place in the band for the Little Theater of Wilkes-Barre's upcoming production of Rock of Ages. Mike wasn't feeling right, so he sat down. Lucky for Mike the production team noticed something odd. Show director Tom Franko (a practicing Pharmacist), realized that Mike wasn't sure where he was or of his name, so the show staff including Dr. Franko,  music director Joey James, and sound designer/marketing manager John Dawe (who Mike went to High School with) called 911.

Thinking it was diabetic shock, the EMTs arrived and began to test his blood sugar. During this test, Mike had a severe seizure.

Mike was rushed to the hospital in minutes. However, his situation was still critical as he was still unconscious and unable to breathe on his own. Doctors told Mike's mom to prepare for the worst. An MRI showed that Mike had a golf ball sized tumor in the left temporal lobe of his brain.

Doctors elected to operate and were successful in removing the mass.

Amazingly after the pressure was relieved on his brain, Mike quickly came back from the brink and awoke as his same joking, easy going, fun-loving, and happy self. Now Mike's battle is just beginning. The tumor pathology report showed a grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma which indicates malignancy... cancer.

While Mike is in great spirits, as a result of all this trauma, he is now dealing with expressive aphasia, which makes it hard for Mike to find the right words to express himself. Now this is where YOU come in. Let us show Mike how we feel about him. Mike will need this help while he now tackles therapy, radiation, and chemotherapy.

Those of us who know Mike, we know he would be the first one to help us. Join us in the fight!

Let us help Mike #ChokeOutCancer!

All proceeds donated will be given to Mike directly to help him with his medical expenses.
