Merrill Man in CRITICAL Condition after Bar Attack!
Early Saturday morning, March 18, Matthew Meisner was out enjoying himself for St Patrick's Day at a local bar in Merrill, WI. Matt very rarely drinks, but he was in the process of moving from Colorado to Virginia to start a new venture with a family business. Matt stopped in Merrill for a few weeks to visit his friends and family, and being only days away from the second leg of his journey, he decided to go visit with everyone one last time before he left town.
Matt stepped outside to get some fresh air sometime around 12:30am this morning. This would be the last time Matt has been seen concience.
Shortly after Matt, another patron of the bar stepped outside, only to find Matt laying on the ground, unconcious. They immediately called 911.
Matt, still unconcious, was taken to Merrill Hospital for an initial check, where they would find that Matt had a Blood Clot in his Brain, and required an Emergency Cratiotomy. He was immediately rushed to The Aspirus Hospital in Wausau to have the Emergency Operation.
As of 5:00pm Saturday, the surgery is finished, but unfortunately, Matt is currently in a medically induced coma, and will remain heavily sedated for several more weeks.
Sadly, he will spend an estimated 6 to 8 weeks in the Hospital, and will then have to undergo extensive physical therapy.
What makes this situation even worse, what angers me the most, is that Matt is an Extremely Unviolent person, someone who is very easy to get along with. He's like a tall teddybear. He is the Most Unconfrontational Person I think I know.
At 12:30 this morning, when Matt went outside, he was attacked by someone outside that bar...
and somehow, nobody knows who did it...
When Matt was attacked, he fell down, hitting his head.
The person who did this to him, left him there to die, bleeding and unconcious, without a care in the world.
Matt Doesnt have Health Insurance, and his medical bills and other costs that he compiles because of this senseless attack are going to be astronomical!
Matt, his 3 children (2 boys-8 and 9, and one girl 5), and his mother, as well as his puppy and the rest of his family, Really need your help right now!
Anything you are able to give would be so very much appreciated! We could also really use your thoughts and prayers, His family is devistated.
The person who did this to Matt has still not been identified or arrested.
We are seeking any information you may have that can place the individual behind this attack. We ask that you please bring ANY information forward to the Merrill Police Department immediately!

This campaign was created by me, Eric Ott, because both Matt and his Mother have been very good friends of my wife and I for a long time. Matt and I grew up in the same town, and hung out quite often before we all moved away a few years ago. We've only been back in Merrill about 6 months, so we were very happy to hear he was stopping by on his way thru after not seeing each other for so long! What happened to him that night, has changed his life in such a major way, and ended such a great opportunity for an excellent new job that he was moving out east to start. He was set to leave in under 10 days...
All of the funds raised from this campaign will be used to help reduce any financial strain from this, and the financial strain will be well over the goal of this campaign when we are finished, probably at least double!
After personally deducting the funds, they will be hand delivered to LouAnn, Matts Mother, unless Matt is able to accept it. We are all so amazed by the way the community has come together to help and show their support financially, but even more uplifted by all of the thoughts and prayers that are being sent to the family and even his friends, and we cant thank you enough! From me personally, I thank you from the bottom of my heart! Please share this with your friends as often as possible, and check back here often for updates!
