Oakland CA Fire Prevention
Donation protected
I am starting a business within Alameda county and surrounding areas doing hazardous fuel reduction to stop/slow the spread of wildfires.
Yes, that means vegetation management and struction protection to stop wildfires from threatening our homes!
I have 20 years of fire suppression and fuels management experience across the U.S. I have worked on fire engines, helicopters and run 5 and 20 person fire suppression crews. I have done seasonal vegetation inspection management for Oakland Fire Department and AIG. I know the safety codes and how fire and weather patterns work.
My goal is to remove high fire related fuels and replant fire wise vegetation in the East Bay hills and beyond. Ideally, homes should have enough clearance around them to be able to stand on their own during a landscape fire.
I hope to gain your interest, trust and donations to obtain the following items in order to get this vital service up and working... to save lives and properties. I have many clients in need and a passion for this work.
I am looking to buy tools and a work truck to get this business off of the ground. Needs:
-2 chainsaws
-2 weed whackers, one with a saw blade ~$300 each
-Fuel cans
-1 phos check machine (to spray long-term fire retardant ) ~$3,000
-1 powered pole saw (HL 100/135degrees) ~$400
-1 DR fields mower/masticator ~$3000
-Basic Hand tools: shovels, rakes, brooms
-Small truck
In 1991, the Oakland, CA tunnel fire burned 3000 homes and killed 25 people in just one day. While fighting forest fires was amazing, I feel I can do more in prevention. If a fire starts, I want the local fire departments to be able to get a foothold on a fire vs. letting the fire run while doing structure protection.
I live in the Oakland Hills, so this work is both personally and professionally important to me.
Thank you so much for considering this cause!
