"Little Bun" Compassionate Relief Fund

Purpose: At Hoppy Hearts we are sometimes called to deal with difficult situations. With a stray epidemic on hand, rabbits face life threatening events that leave them critically injured or in a state where they are unable to survive outdoors (flystrike, headtilt, paralysis, traumatic injuries, severe physical condition). This means we need to act quickly to find a humane solution and relieve their suffering. It’s not a choice we want to make, but sometimes it’s the only option we have.

This fund is strictly for stray rabbits who cannot survive into care when all other options for care have been exhausted and the chance of survival is extremely minimal and where inaction would be inhumane.

The Story of Little Bun:

The fund was created in memory of "Little Bun" and handsome young rabbit that we received a call about that had been dragging his poor, broken body around a neighbourhood for a day before they could find an organization to contact for help. He was in a critical state after being hit by a car (we believe due to the severe trauma, but the vet couldn't be certain). Upon arrival at the vet his injuries were determined to be too severe to attempt medical intervention. Our founder stayed with him and helped him gently across the bridge. As Hoppy Hearts was low on funds she paid personally out of pocket for his vet bills. We created this fund with the idea that if any rabbit ever again needs compassionate relief from a vet clinic that we would always be able to provide that service even if we are low on personal funds or if the rescue can't afford it.
