Gap Medics trip- Dominican Republic

At the end of august 2017 I am planning to go to the Dominican Republic for 2 weeks. Here I aim to find new experiences in the medical field of midwifery- which is a career I aim to go into. I also will be helping in the community and learning so much about the local area and midwifery.

The trip will give me invaluable experience in midwifery that I wouldn't be able to get in the UK before university applications are taken in. As I will be 17 when university applications go in I would not have been able to get the necessary 21 days experience in a hospital in order to get into midwifery at university. Gap Medics is offering me the opportunity to do this, and the experience will be instrumental in my application to universities and will give me valuable life skills that I can only get from this experience.

I will be travelling on my own to La Romana in the Dominican Republic, and I have set up this gofundme page so that I can raise a portion of the money I need to pay for the trip. I will also be doing lots of car boots and making lots of cakes for cake sales!
