Over the years we have been blessed at the orphanage with volunteers from many countries, including Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Brazil, Columbia, Canada and Peru. Welcome Patricia Liuzzi who comes to us from Paris, France. Patricia was born and raised in France, although her father is from Argentina and her mother from Uruguay, hence she is fluent in Spanish as well and French and English. She recently received a Master´s Degree in psychology from the Sorbonne in Paris. We are so happy to have a special volunteer like Patricia with us this month. All of our volunteers make a huge contribution to the care of the children here at La Ola.

The children´s dining room is basically a screened in porch. The mornings are getting quite cold now when the kids have to eat breakfast at 6:20 AM to get ready for school. Our friend, Mike Headley, installed some thick plastic insulation over the screens for us. This really has helped keep it warmer for the kid´s breakfast. Thanks, Mike!

Our three littlest ones, Valeria 4, Mili 6, Monse 8 (center, photo). We found out that in the two years before we got Monse, she had gained no weight at all. We were told by Child Welfare that the previous shelter that had her only fed her bread and water or bread and milk, because they did not have enough funds. So sad. In the first week that we had Monse, she gained 5 lbs.! She had not been to school for 2 years, yet she reads better than some of our older children.

Hi Becky, I'm a second-year student at UC Berkeley, CA, USA, at the School of Information. My team and I are conducting some interviews with people that have raised funds through GoFundMe, and I wonder if I can share a link with you, and you can help us by bringing some insights to our project. Our project is about bringing transparency to direct giving donations, and connecting donors and people in need through a platform without middlemen. Hope you can help us to reach our mission since we saw your case is on the way to be successfully achieved. Thanks in advance. Here is the link to our survey, and we;ll be really grateful with your help: https://berkeley.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0SuRskIvpIjjNBj
