Jill Turner Beats Breast Cancer
What was supposed to be a routine mammogram turned into something much more for Jill Turner last spring. When she first got the call back to "check into a questionable scan" she didn't think much of it. She had gotten called back in years prior because her breasts were considered dense or fibrous. But, as one test turned into another, her worst fears came true, and in April she was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, a common type of breast cancer.
In early June, Jill underwent a double mastectomy and will begin intensive chemotherapy by mid-summer. Currently, they are planning for treatment to last about a year. It will include not only chemo, but extensive testing, multiple surgeries, and the potential for radiation therapy as well. Needless to say, this is not the summer Jill had planned for herself, or her nine-year-old son, Holdan. 
Her prognosis is good, but it won't be an easy road. Lucky for us, if you know Jill, you know she's a fighter.

On Sunday, July 28th, we'll be hosting a benefit at the The Goat at Put-in-Bay from 3:00 - 7:00 PM. $25 admission includes special-edition pink Goat t-shirt, brats/hotdogs off the grill and one drink ticket. Basket Raffle and 50/50 Raffle tickets available in advance and at the event.
