Paraclimbing World Championship

Tax deductible
I have recently been awarded a spot to compete in the IFSC Paraclimbing World Championship! The competition is September 14-18th   held in Paris, France. I want to use this opportunity to inspire those with different abilities to get involved with adaptive sports. I also want to raise awareness for Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and show the world why early diagnosis and proper treatment of the condition can save lives!

In January 2016 I discovered I could rock climb. Living in a body that dislocates joints in my sleep, this was quite a monumental change in my life. Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is a rare connective tissue disorder that can affect all systems of the body and causes extreme joint laxity and instability.  I was forced to quit playing all the sports I loved by the age of 15 due to unexplainable pain and injuries. In 2014, I was officially diagnosed with EDS.Rock climbing has literally replaced weekly physical and occupational therapy sessions. Often people wonder how I can rock climb safely and if I should really be doing it.  I can assure you, it is not just safe, it is saving my quality of life and what I consider to be a true treatment option for the way I am personally affected by EDS.

I stumbled across Adaptive Climbing Group and they just so happened to have a team training to compete in an official USA climbing event held in Kennesaw, Georgia.By some miracle I was accepted as the only climber from Missouri, never having met anyone on the team or organization in person! I knew I had to show them they made a good choice in their leap of faith and trained nearly everyday this summer. July 22nd all my hard work was worth it, as I placed 3rd in my climbing category. Through this, I was awarded a spot to compete at the IFSC World Paraclimbing Championship. This year the competition will be held in Paris, France.

Being the only one in St. Louis and not having much time, a GoFundMe is the best way for me to do my part in the fundraising. All the money donated will go through the 501 c 3 public charity, Brooklyn Boulders Foundation and be used to fund the cost of team housing, transportation, and meals during the competition. Thank you for taking the time to read my story any contributions or shares will be greatly appreciated!

July 22nd I placed 3rd in my category at the USA climbing Adaptive Nationals http://www.usaclimbing.org/Nationals_Information/Adaptive_Nationals.htm

The Paraclimbing World Championship is held at the same time and in the same venue as the regular IFSC World Championship so we will be climbing for team USA just like any of the other athletes.
