Hello Beloved Family and Friends of Hope, Leland, Kaleia, & Jade,
We are initiating a crowdfunding project to help out our dear friends in this time of hardship. They are hoping to get back home to New Mexico to be held in their grief and supported by community in honoring their dear little one who began her big journey to the other side at 12:40pm on Tuesday, April 5th.
This little jewel, Jade Bird Guthrie was born at 7:14pm on April 1st. 7 pounds 12 ounces. Sadly, as they have shared, Jade was born without a heartbeat and was immediately rushed to the NICU at the Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh where she was miraculously resuscitated. But after so long without oxygen she suffered severe brain damage as well as complications with her organs. There was never a single moment that she was not in the very best hands. Everyone from the birthing center to the hospital agreed that nothing could have been done any differently.
From Leland and Hope: "Jade was a wise little hummingbird from the other side of time who flitted into our lives just long enough to crack open our hearts, drink in the vital sustenance of our tears, and fly away home. She has left us with a fierce devotion to life’s simple yet profound gifts. We are learning the hard way to take nothing for granted and be grateful for each moment that we have with those we love. We feel so held by all of you, thank you for your support. "
If you are able, Hope and Leland would be most grateful for any support in covering the expenses of getting home to New Mexico, holding a burial ceremony and general family-care through the coming months.
