The Department of Children’s Services investigates allegations of child abuse and neglect and also administers the state’s foster care system. When children of all ages have to be removed from their homes they are often taken to DCS offices and placed in a visitation room while DCS workers try to find placement for them. Sometimes children have to stay in the visitation rooms overnight. Family visits take place in these rooms when parents or caregivers can begin to have visits again with their children.
The time a child spends in these rooms are some of the worst moments of their lives. Right now, these rooms are in sad shape. The state has no budget to furnish or decorate this space. As a community, we can at least show these children we care by making this small space a place of comfort and nurturing. These children deserve more than what you see below.

-and more, depending on $$$ raised
