HELLO PEOPLE! My name is Mari but I'm also known as Little Miss Flint. For more than a year I have been telling the world about the Flint Water Crisis. I'm an activist even though I'm only 9. I got to go to New York recently and I took a photo with the Fearless Girl statue---I am the real deal! I have a bunch of cool opportunities coming up but I need help getting there. In May last year, I told President Obama to come to Flint and to see the Flint Water Crisis first hand, AND HE DID. I have done a lot of work and community service projects like passing out water and supplies. I even teamed up with the group Pack Your Back, and with my #PackYourBackChallenge I helped collect almost 100 fully stuffed bookbags for the kids in Flint.
I speak out for Flint kids and kids everywhere. I am the youngest youth ambassador for the Women's March on Washington, I am also the National Youth Ambassador for The Climate March, and Youth Ambasador for Equality for HER’s Youth Leadership Initiative. I also got the chance to travel to Washington to speak at the Science March in front of 40,000+ people.
I deal with a lot of cyber bullying but instead of letting it stop me and get me down, I started being an activist against bullying and cyberbullying too. Thousands of people have reached out to me and supported me with the hashtag #ImWithMari!
I have been featured in Teen Vogue, The Guardian, VICE, TIME, CNN, Refinery 29, The Washington Post, NBC News, Rewire, Buzzfeed, World News Tonight Person of the Week, The Today Show, Goodmorning America, and tons of other media outlets. I have also had my wiritng published on Rookie Mag, and footage that I shot was even used by Teen Vogue.
Being a youth advocate given me a lot of opportunities and this summer I am invited to speak at the United Nations Girl Up Leadership Conference, The Childrens March on DC, and a bunch other events all over the country.
I am very blessed and I want to be able to attend as many of these events as possible. If you can give $1 or even $5 you can help me continue to spread awareness about the Flint Water Crisis, the effects of bullying, and showing other kids that they can change the world too.
Thank You In Advance
Love Mari
