Black Panther for Reston Youth

Donation protected
Hi Friends! Did you enjoy Black Panther? Wasn't it inspiring and energizing? My friend Louis and I agree! That's why we are raising funds to bring 50 kids to see this highly-impactful movie. The children are 13-18 years old and all from the small Section 8 housing community where I work in Reston, VA.

Over 90% of these kids are first generation immigrants from various African countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, just to name a few. They are excellent students with ambitious goals and spirited personalities who regularly volunteer in the community. They all also live in low-income households and do not have the same opportunities as most of their peers.

The money we are raising will cover movie tickets for 50 kids, transportation to and from the theater, and hopefully a snack and drink (depending on your generosity). We plan on taking them to the movie on Friday, March 2nd and must buy tickets by Tuesday, February 27th.

Without these funds, many of these children will not be able to see the movie and experience the same energy and inspiration we did. Your donation, no matter how small, will help us reach our goal!

Who is raising this money?
Sharon: Community Impact Strategies Manager for a non-profit organization, supporting this small community on-site to meet their goals of self-sufficiency through empowerment.
Louis: Storyboard artist working with indie VA filmmakers, who also happens to be a first generation African immigrant.
