Norm Bungard, a 7 Year Guardian ad Litem firmly believes that EVERY child is entitled to an adult who advocates on his or her behalf. Norm is an active volunteer in the St. Pete community. After retiring from the Social Security Administration, he began volunteering to fulfill a spiritual need to give back. In addition to his work as a Guardian ad Litem volunteer, he serves as a mentor, a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, Chaplain and Program Chair for Civitan, and as a Board member for Daystar Life Center.
Norm says his role as a Guardian ad Litem allows him to optimize his time, talent, and resources to serve those with the greatest need. Norm goes to the ends of the earth for the children he advocates for-often ensuring they have experiences that they have never had before-so they can just be kids. Norm also goes to the ends of the earth to make sure abused and neglected children get the resources they need.
Norm wants to ensure more abused and neglected children have the tools they need to succeed. With over 3,000 children in care at any given time in Pinellas and Pasco Counties, he knows all too well that meeting these complex needs is costly. That is why Norm is LITERALLY going to the ends of the earth to help raise funds for the Guardian ad Litem Foundation of Tampa Bay. Foster children often need more help than the system can provide. The Guardian ad Litem Foundation was founded to ensure that the basic rights and needs for every child in the Guardian ad Litem program are met.
On December 1 (Giving Tuesday), Norm (at the age of 78) will do a tandem jump to help raise awareness of the need for more Guardian ad Litem volunteers. If jumping out a plane isn’t crazy enough, Norm is supplementing your donations in honor of his jump and that means your generosity can go further!
