Help Pinball Legend Python Anghelo
Every time it looks like he might be down for the count he battles back with even more determination.
He has his great days and his not so great days, but Python is currently surrounded by his artwork and pinball machines at his Chicago, IL apartment. While his mobility has been reduced, many days he gathers enough strength to sit at his drafting table to draw and create new game concepts and artwork.
Unfortunately this battle has been long and costly. Due to his chemo and radiation treatments over the last couple years he has been very limited in his ability to do his creative work.. As you can imagine, this has put a severe strain on Python's finances.
He now needs the help of our Pinball Community and beyond.
You can help in several ways.
First, Python's good days appear to correlate to hearing/visiting with his pinball friends and fans. Sending him a postcard or a letter would go a long way to help brighten his day and give him strength. You can send any postcards/letters/well wishes directly to him at the following address:
5030 N. Marine Dr
Chicago, IL 60640
Secondly, if you have the means to donate to help cover his ongoing expenses, please donate what you can to this GoFundMe campaign.
Every penny of what is collected from this GoFundMe page will go directly to Python Anghelo. Myself and a few of Python's close friends will also personally cover any processing fees charged by GoFundMe and the payment processor. So if you donate $100, Python will get the full $100.
There are other fund raising projects in the works as well, starting at the Ohio Pinball Show. As many know he was scheduled to be at the show but he is now unable to travel. He insists on being there so his health willing he will be setting up a live video feed from his apartment to the show to do a speech which will be broadcast on a large video screen at the show.
He also wants to have a video feed to the booth which will be set up for the signed art and pinball items he has provided. All the proceeds from these sales will go directly to Python. The video feeds will based on his energy levels. We don't want him to over do it.
WHO AM I
Some of you may know me, Paul Kiefert, as one of the hosts of the Pins and Vids DVD Series ( www.pinsandvids.com). In fact, the next Pins and Vids DVD will have a long video interview with Python.
After working with Python on several pinball related projects, I've been fortunate to become very close to him over the past several years. I now consider him to be one of my dearest friends.
Myself and other close friends travel to Chicago multiple times a month to visit and help Python. Anything the Pinball Community can do (Postcards, donations, etc) to help this Pinball Legend while he continues this battle would be greatly appreciated by Python (and us).
We are looking into doing a memorial service in the near future for the pinball community, so we will keep everyone updated to any plans that pertain to that.
Some of you may know him as a Legendary Pinball and Arcade machine designer and artist. Over the past couple years I've been fortunate enough to know the man behind the legend and become part of a team that was able to give him great joy in his last months on this earth. I can say with 100% certainty that with the help of this great Pinball Community we were able deliver great joy and happiness during his final time on this earth and that the legend most people knew will continue to be honored for generations to come.
From the bottom of my heart I thank you for being a part of delivering this happiness to Python.
We are still working through the details, but most likely any of the remaining money that was raised will be used to pay any final bills and final arrangements that Python has requested.
Again, it's because of you that Python was able to have considerable Joy these past several months and there are no words that can describe how thankful I am that all of us could do this for him.
I will keep everyone updated of any memorial services or other important items when the details become available.
The IFPA has informed us that they have two benefit tournaments on the schedule already.
March 1st - San Francisco
March 9th - Seattle
If you are interested in running a tournament near you, please contact the IFPA at firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
forwarding comments from John Newcomer- "Python is a treasure! A creative genius, smart, positive, extremely passionate. When he joined Williams, he came onto the Joust team (yes, video). Not only did he immediately infuse incredible creativity, he was a whirlwind of positive energy. He jumped in wherever he could... animating, drawing, giving valuable opinions and incite about sound and design. When you work with Python, he forces you to bring your "A" game. He is a guy you listen to because he sees things outside the box. When you talk with Python, you always get comments from someone who observes with "fresh eyes". I loved working with Python and would love to do so again. Get well soon, Python. The world is a better place with you in it."
Python= Genius. Every day I get to count Python as a friend. We are blessed by his creative genius and friendship. The games he created or contributed to have stood tte test of time. Now its time to love him back in a way that can assist him Love you Python
Python is a dear friend and has made so much of a difference in the world of pinball and art. He just sees the world in a different way. Few people can share a gift like he has in the way he has. Please help if you can, even a little will help a lot!
