After working for decades, had cut back to part time work, due to pain in my Knee so was working only 3 days a week.... When Retired at 65. . . . . . . Not knowing Social Security is based on the last - FIVE QUARTERS - that You work, INSTEAD of what you paid into it, all your life...
Please, Plan Ahead, make the most YOU can in the last five Quarters that You Work... so you get more.
Had to give up AETNA insurance this year, when they wanted to raise it $120 a month...
On Aug 31st had surgery, they Totally replaced my Knee Joint and the Doctors say it will take a year to totally recover. Now have been out of work for six weeks, and know it will be at least two more weeks, but they have already told me they cut my hours for insurance purposes....
We still have to pay the CoPay from BOBs Surgery last November to remove a gangrene Gall Bladder and two growths on his liver 4x4" and 4x3...."
Bob could not go to the VA Hospital, as it is a 327 mile round trip, so . . . he was taken at midnight in an Ambulance to a local hospital.
Am painting part time, trying to sell my paintings in The Art Mart of Sedona, on AZ89 to have a survivable income. If you live in the area, or visit you could check my beautiful paintings.... Know you will like seeing them, even if they may not fit your decor, you can enjoy them, anyway.
My Husband, Bob served (3) tours in the Korean War with the 5th Regimental Combat team. This was only unit in Korea, in combat 96% of the time. The only Army Unit in history, that a Marine Officer wrote a book about, "Hills of Sacrafice." at Amazon. A Marine General compared the 5th to the 1st Marines and Wolfhounds in WWII
Bob came home with PTSD, they called it Battle Fatigue then, and he was suicidal. The Va told him You will get over it in a few months" But after spending over six months in the hospital, he went back to school and became a Psychologist. He did independent research, with Veterans. Taking only enough paying clients to pay office expenses....
Bob at 85 still works free with Veterans and others who are suicidal. He knows what is happening in their lives.
Most people then, and now do not know much about Korea, as they tried to hide there was a major war so soon after WWII. But over 18,000 American Soldiers were Killed in action the FIRST YEAR... in addition to Soldiers from 23 other countries. More American Soldiers died in Korea, than in Iraq and Afghanistan combined in ten years... More than in Vietnam in three years...
