Healed By Grace Sequel Cast & Crew
My name is David Matthew Weese, and I want to ask for your help in supporting the marvelously talented cast of "Healed By Grace II - Ten Days of Grace" as we work toward a Spring 2017 release. This is my seventh motion picture - a sequel to "Healed By Grace " which was released in 2012. That film has touched millions of lives through broadcast on TBN, UpLiftTV, ParablesHD, and others in addition to selling nearly 300,000 DVD's worldwide!
Now, the story continues...
Turns out that Gauff - the cantankerous horse trainer - has a dark past that includes a messy divorce and hopelessly strained relationship with his adult daughter Brandy, who won't even speak to him. But when Brandy experiences a health scare, Gauff finds himself looking after his 14 year old girl granddaughter - whom he was unaware of just days before! It's a heartwarming tale of connection and reconciliation set in a scenic and inspiring equestrian setting.
Why This Campaign...
Now I'd like to explain why I am approaching this movie differently. My past films were funded by distributors. That takes financial pressure off - so you can focus on being creative. But it also means giving away ownership and/or control of the film early in the process.
As I was developing as a filmmaker, that was a fair tradeoff. But it's time to declare independence from distributor funding, retain control of the movie, and carve out a bright future for the "Healed By Grace" universe and cast.
The Outlook for the Movie
The good news is that enthusiasm is high based on the strength of the original Healed By Grace and my work for the past 8 years. Every distributor I talk to is interested in it. So we can be confident that this film will find it's audience.
However, that's all future tense... TODAY I need to pay my cast and take financial pressure off the production so we can focus at this key moment in making the VERY BEST MOVIE POSSIBLE. That's where you can help.
You may not realize that actors working on independent films in the midwest typically make ZERO. They do it for the love of it - in the hopes that the picture will be successful and be a stepping stone to something better.
I, on the other hand, have always paid my actors for their time, and the total cost for the cast and crew, plus food, reimbursement for travel, comes out to just under $10,000 - so that's where we could use your help.
Because "Healed By Grace 2" builds on a proven success, it stands to be a real boon to the careers of everyone involved. This amazing cast not only deserves to be compensated, but also to have the opportunity to grow with Blended Planet Pictures through future films and shows. They DESERVE it.
What About Extra Funds?
It all goes toward keeping these actors working! A third film in the Healed By Grace series has already been plotted and an episodic show is being developed as well. We KNOW there's an enthusiastic audience for this series, and we want to sieze the day and focus on making YOUR movie the best it can be.
Updates & Stuff
I'll be posting frequent updates as we progress in order to keep you in the loop, because this is OUR movie. Thanks in advance for helping us make it great!

The explanation is simple. The climate for modest budget family films is *nothing* like it was when Healed By Grace 1 came out in 2012.
For example - for HBG1, it was fun to work with Rave Motion Pictures to organize a proper premiere event.
Then Rave got bought by Carmike. They were a little more standoffish than Rave - and they kept far fewer promises - BUT we still had a pretty good event surrounding the release of Clerical Errors in 2015.
Then Carmike got bought by AMC. AMC could not possibly care less about our humble little picture produced right here in Fort Wayne with a local cast - even if it is the sequel to a film that went on to impact hundreds of thousands around the globe (millions if you count it's airings on TBN globally).
Nope. If the picture isn't a bunch of guys in capes and tights blowing things up, they *snif snif* can't be bothered to even have a conversation about it.
Bigger is NOT always better!
Plus, remember that Healed By Grace 2 almost didn't even get made. I had a deal with a distributor to back the production, and *after* the script was written and *after* the cast was in place and ready to go, Family Christian Stores (THE retail backbone of the faith & family entertainment industry) declared bankruptcy.
At the 11th hour the backers had to tell me their bean counters had cold feet and wanted to back out.
I knew I could go forward on my own nickel and chose to do so, hence the crowdfund, which as you know didn't even come close to achieving its funding goal.
But I decided to plunge ahead anyway...that was three years ago.
So that's the deal. EVERYTHING about the entertainment marketplace is *much* different than even three years ago. The battle is over and Netflix won. The trend of binge watching tv shows has taken hold. Movies are yesterday.
I cannot state this more emphatically - the marketplace for films like this literally disappeared almost overnight. ALL of my distributor friends are struggling to make a buck today, because no one knows quite how to adapt to the streaming media / tv show climate dominated by netflix in which we now reside.
I am not complaining by the way! Frankly I would much prefer to develop a series than 90 minute films and that is precisely what I am doing - Anime to be specific... (yeah, cartoons)...
In any case I wanted to make sure I explain why the promises of the crowdfund admittedly fall flat - and for that I apologize! I do hope you all enjoy the movie!
This is not a "premier" or media event in the Hollywood sense - no red carpets for what is essentially a "direct to home video" movie - but it should be fun and I'm glad Healed By Grace 2 is going to be distributed all over the world.
Larry Bower and I plan to "go to the movies" Saturday 9/22. Maybe other cast members will as well... if you attend, be sure to say hello!
This films has seen a loooooooong road to release, but I am happy to report that early responses have been overwhelmingly positive!
This theatrical run is really the last step before it's out everywhere. I will be reviewing the gofundme rewards - which you have been very patient for - next week.
