Hands Up For Haiti

Donation protected
My name is Diana Achille. I'm a Haitian-American young woman who grew up between Haiti, New York and Miami. I've spent the last few years living in Melbourne, Australia - enjoying the friendly lifestyle here while sharing my Haitian roots through cooking. I relish the joy that I get from sharing my culture and feeding people's souls around this city.

Let me explain why I have started this GoFundMe campaign - We are working to raise funds to help the Southern Region of Haiti, specifically the town of Cavaillon following the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Matthew which hit Haiti on October 4th. Hundreds of families in Cavaillon have lost their homes, nearly 60%of farms have been wiped out, over a dozen schools have been severely damaged and livestock lost. I wish to help by assisting these families that have lost a great deal including their homes, lifestock, and gardens. This small city, is made up of primarily farmers, whom rely on the land and their lifestock to feed their families and earn a living.

We are also quite concerned with the level of distruction of children's centres in the area. Depending of how much funds we raise, we will aim to assist in the rebuilding of the center to get it up and running again, or at least get them on their way.

It's taken a little while to get this gofundme campaign up and running. I needed to be sure that I had the right support network here in Melbourne as well as in Haiti, to use the funds appropriately. Red Cross, and the Clinton foundation raised hundreds of millions of dollars for Haiti, and gave next to nothing to the people and the communities at all. I wasn't about to raise funds and pass it to them. So, now that we have a team of people available, and ready to work with me and my team here in Melbourne, we are excited to see what we can do to help the beautiful people of my home country. So the sooner we can get the funds the better! Although our Cultural Celebration Fundraiser will take place on December 11th, we are sharing the link now to start helping sooner.

Along with this gofundme campaign we are running a "Hands Up For Haiti" fundraiser Cook- Out and Musical/Cultural celebration in Melbourne's Section 8, with Remedy (a fundraising group who dedicate 100% of income earned), local DJ's, musicians, and sponsors who believe this is a just cause, and wish to dedicate their time and energy toward this.

This means so much to me, as I know first hand how beautiful Haiti is. I know how wonderful and resourceful the people are. I know how much bad press Haiti receives, and how many hurdles this nation constantly faces while moving forward. Unnatural disasters we can fight as individuals if need be, but natural disasters require people coming together to help lift one another and share positivity and strength in numbers.

Myself, and everyone involved will be so happy and so appreciative of any help that we receive. The families and the children who are most in need, will be most thankful for outside help, not only financially, but emotionally, as right now, they feel alone, and forgotten.

I can pledge that all money raised will be placed in the hands of Haitians that will help Haiti , I will be dedicated in providing updates as to where your heartfelt generosity goes with photos and stories.

Please, let's help Haitians rebuild their town and help them meet some of their basics human needs and watch our contributions and efforts grow as a community comes back to life...Any donations you can give, big or small will be appreciated (all donations over $2 are tax deductible).

And please visit my page on Facebook ......... to see further updates about the Remedy relief block party at Section 8 on the .........

Let's let them know, and remind them that they are humans on this planet that deserve all the love we can give.

With your support we will achieve the following:

-Rebuild 25 of the worst damaged houses in Cavillion
-Provide livestock to 25 families in the villages to promote sustainability (each family will then be required to donate one of their livestock sa offspring from the first litter to another family in need)
-Provide work opportunity for local construction workers
-Provide food kits to 100 families

Help Haitians help Haitians...
