Vietnam Era Marine needs HELP! NOW

I am willing to share what happened on Oct. 20th, 2016. Two ATF Officers came to our door asking for Steves gun.  They explained that he can no longer own or be around guns again.  They said it had to do with a case he had 21 years ago.  Steve was 39 at the time.  He had never been in trouble with the law before and has never been in trouble since but that 1 case has now changed his life; He is 60now.   This is a Marine who was a Sargent in the Marines.  He was a marksmen instructor teaching other marines how to use firearms.   He is a sharpshooter who was in matches while in the marines and before when he was still in high school.  Steve grew up hunting and fishing with his family in Alaska.  He was born and rasied up here.,   As a grown up he doesn't hunt anymore .  He feels bad for the animals.. He says "as long as we have a grocery store down the road " he doesn't need to hunt.  However he can no longer show up when his brother hunts because he can't be around guns now.  Nor can he protect us if someone broke into our home .  One morning  we were woken up to 3 bears on our front porch.  Steve shot one shot away from the bears but on a safe area.  This was enough to chase them off.  Now we will will have to depend on anything but a gun to protect us. 

When Steve was charged it was a 4th degree assault ; nothing more.  The feds now say it is a DV because it involved my 2 of my teenage children.  Steve declined an attorney and plead no contest the next day.  He had no clue what he was giving up by doing that.    I told the judge I would take my kids over to the hospital to look them over and prove they were not injured.  The judge would'nt listen.  Back then he was just the boyfriend so the police charged him. They said,  he is not family so he is not allow to discipline my kids.. Now the feds say he was acting as a step parent.  One way in 95 and another in 16.  Such crap.  If he had been their father none of this would have ever happened!

We went to see an attorney the otherday.  He said it will be an interesting case but will be an up hill battle to fight.We have some excellent points but I can put then here.   He wants $7,500 to get the case started.  We have part of it but need help raising the rest.  This case will give hope to those who are charged and 21 years later the feds change it again with out a new charge.  They just knock on your door and say you still have a misdemeanor but now it is a DV too.  No where on the court records does it say that.  

This is a 60 year old man who had one brush with the law but they will never let us heel.  Felons can get their gun rights back .  This is not fair to a man who served his country for 8 years;  was willing to die for you and yours to have freedom and is still willing to do the right thing if our country asked him to do so.

   Has been a great friend to me and over the years got close to my kids.  He officated my daughters wedding.  He loves my grandbabies and this is opening old wounds.  Our family has moved on from this .  PLEASE, PLEASE. HELP US.

Please help this man who was a marine for 8 years.  He doesn't deserve to lose his right to bare arms.. Thank you
