Grandview Preparatory Music Studio

Donation protected
Our goal as students of Grandview Preparatory School and the Passion Project is to elevate the current music program here at school, to an all new level that has never even been dreamt of before. As students and individuals, both inside and out of school, music plays a huge part in all four of our lives. That is why we have arranged to build our very own music studio, for the pleasure and entertainment of all Grandview students who are as passionate about this as we are. The uses of Grandview’s music studio will be endless; from projects, to extra-curricular activity, to college applications and student entertainment. The new music studio will provide everything that anyone in the Grandview Community could ever possibly need for singing, acting, recording, and much more. All four group members involved in this project have been attending Grandview, and with that have been involved in it’s wonderful music program, for over four years now. Two out of our four group members were involved in the assembly of last years extremely successful Passion Project, the Greenhouse. Having the skills, experience, passion, and hopefully the assistance of our very own music teachers, Carrie Furman and Patti Jo Fantozz, we possess the skills and dedication to make our project successful.

The finished product will create a new musical avenue at Grandview. There will be new opportunities for classes, projects, and a source of revenue by renting it out to aspiring producers and recorders. This project would completely change and improve music at Grandview. From this project, we will expand our musical talents along with our management, construction, and collaboration.  We hope to have people using the studio by Mid-January. This project would be a success once we see and hear the creativity of the Grandview Community.

Our first major objective once the studio is finished is to produce a song that shows the studio’s capabilities. This can be done by any number of students, and could be anything from the school’s screed, to a recent pop song. We would be able to record this by ourselves, or with the help of a teacher, such as the school’s music director.  After we accomplish this, we can begin to expand into the community even more.  Our overall goal is to bring Grandview’s music program to new heights.  After the creation of the ro

om is complete, we will have access to equipment that allows for high quality recording, and a chance for seniors in the program to do a major music project, if they so choose. Our other main objective involves the private lessons Grandview offers. Currently, the school’s private voice lessons are held in the music room. By creating the music studio, we have the option to move private voice lessons into the studio, allowing for higher level lessons. There is also a possibility that we would be able to start a class, or private lesson, for recording or mixing.

The studio does have a few things that are required to make it function properly. The first thing, is a schedule. The studio will contain fairly expensive equipment, and it would be beneficial to use a schedule, so students cannot be in there at any time they wish. The studio would also require teacher supervision, as leaving students alone in the room could cause issues.  There are also options to have volunteers use the room, and if some students have experience with recording, perhaps they wish to use it for a project of their own. Even if a student doesn’t have experience with recording, maybe they want to partner up with someone, and do a singing project. There are endless possibilities, which allow students to expand on their horizons.

The creation of the studio is definitely hands-on if anything. We will need to buy the equipment, as well as set up the room, computer, software, devices, and all. Everyone participating in the project either has good technological skills, or is extremely creative. This allows us to accomplish what we need to do without too much of a problem. As far as the room layout goes, we can leave that to the creative people, and as far as setup goes, the people that are good with technology can handle that.

One of the essential parts of this project is going to be funding. Recording equipment is by no means cheap. The estimated price for our equipment goes from $2500 at the lower tier, to $6500 at the upper tier. There are many music stores in the area that may be willing to donate to the studio, and we also have the entire grandview community, which always has some people that are willing to make a contribution. Once we receive our funding, we will be able to buy our equipment from retailers such as Amazon, or Guitar Center, both of which have high quality products, for relatively decent prices.

In conclusion, the music studio serves as an opportunity for music lovers, young and old alike, to create high quality content, all in the comfort of a community they know. The studio has the capabilities to prepare students for college, if they wish to major in producing, and it gives them a fighting chance in the ever changing music world. Grandview’s music studio will be a huge help to anyone who is passionate about the arts, and wishes to pursue a career in it. Our ultimate goal is to create a place where anyone within the Grandview community, and maybe otherwise during the summer, could come and enjoy the privilege of next level music education, and that goal is definitely reachable.
