Overview:
The Fly Girl Network (FGN) is a youth development organization serving adolescent girls in Baltimore City by hosting and sponsoring social, academic and cultural events and activities to empower young women to make positive, sound decisions toward promising futures.
The Fly Girl Network is devoted to mentoring participants and planning and facilitating social enrichment activities designed to fulfill the organization’s tax-exempt purposes by empowering, educating, a providing opportunities for social, educational, and cultural development among adolescent females. The Board, committee members, and volunteer mentors present activities include holding weekly mentoring groups, developing a calendar of events for social outings and fundraising, and planning and implementing service learning initiatives in the Baltimore community.
Mission:
To empower young women (13-18) in the areas of self-esteem, healthy relationships, and leadership through mentorship and social enrichment.
Vision:
To provide a coalition of healthy, purpose-driven, confident young women consistently demonstrating exemplary leadership qualities among their peers, in their households and in their communities.
Goals:
• To establish a presence at EWHS where participates are living examples of the mission and vision of both the school and the program.
• To use leadership skills to launch community service initiatives to support the greater Baltimore community.
• To facilitate the strengthening of the much needed bond of sisterhood among young urban girls.
• To establish a social, academic, emotional and spiritual support network of facilitators, participants and partners through strategic mentor pairing.
