Hello,

My name is Cindy Notredame, i am a 34 yrs old mother of three, living in Belgium and restarted school to give my life a new direction. I want to become a social assistant.

Since a couple of month I am working as a volunteer in the refugeecamp in Calais. This camp, also called "the Jungle" is the worst place I have ever seen. Everywhere dirt, half broken tents, little wooden shacks just put together with wood and sail or plastic foil.

In the main time i have seen may kitchens build, so people get provided with food. Kitchen in Calais is one of the biggest running kitchens i know. On a daily base they provide the people in the camp with fresh cooked meals.

The first weeks i just ran around, helping where i could help, and looking which things are most needed, so i could maybe provide it. Medécin du monde works during from 9 - 17.... and during weekends the volunteer nurses and docters from frontline care team of the UK can provide the people in the camp with medical aid. During the night-time there is no one available and even the ambulances won't enter the camp when darkness falls. They have emergency points outside of the camp, where the injured people have to be brought too.

I was with a firefighter, a whole time during my youth and younger years, so i have seen a little more than basic first aid... so i thought i could take care of the injuries when the night falls. It's been a couple of weeks i'm doing this and till now i get a little donations from people and first-aid-supply shops. The remaining most important things i provide with my own money.

As you'll surely understand it is very difficult to get enough supplies for more than 6000 people. Even the first-aid caravans are running out of stock...

We desperatly need your help!

Hand in hand... cause humanity doesn't know religion, race or politics... Together we can change something!

Thanks from the bottom of my heart!
