I was born in Brooklyn, but raised on the lower eastside of Manhattan. Growing up, I always had a desire to serve in my community. When I was just 14 years old, I had my first opportunity to volunteer with the Henry Street Settlement Arts Center summer camp. It was a great experience that ignited a passion for serving others through volunteer work. At age 15, I joined a group called World Horizon International and was awarded the opportunity to travel to Oahu, Hawaii. A vacation spot for many, I spent the days assisting the YWCA summer youth program, as we worked to restore the local beach fronts. The following year I was sent to San Estevan, Belize to help construct the foundation of a future community center. My last trip with this organization was to Botswana, Africa, stationed in Mokolodi Nature Reserve, where we helped maintain the roads and coordinate class trips for the local schools.
Although these organizations took me far from home, I continued my connection to the community I grew up in. I spent the time in between trips as the vice president of my youth group, Youth United in Christ at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, where I held a position as altar server during Mass.
Eventually I left New York to start a new life with my wife. We moved to Whitemarsh, MD where our first son was born. I was working for a company picking up hazardous waste material. My route took me up and down the eastern shore, but I made frequent stops in Dover, Delaware. I started to become very familiar with the great state of Delaware, and while completing my assigned duties, began to notice all of the amazing qualities that Dover had to offer. The people that I met along the way was the best part of my time in Dover, but also all of the growth that was going on. Dover was definitely up and coming! While my wife was pregnant with my second child, she told me that we needed to relocate to a home and a place that we could raise our family. Only one city came to mind…Dover, Delaware. I brought her out to experience for herself the city, the people, and the growth potential that Dover had to offer us. She took one look and agreed that this was going to be where we put down roots, a place to call “home”.
I have spent the last 8 years enjoying all the best that Dover has to offer. During this time, I was nominated to be on the Board of Directors, and eventually elected president, of the Homeowner’s Association at Clearview Meadows. I spend all of my free time volunteering at my child’s school, South Dover Elementary, currently participate in several committees with the Capital School District school board. When the 2nd District seat became available, a few members of my community asked if I would consider running. After careful consideration, I believed that this was an opportunity for me to make a bigger impact on the community in which I serve. What a better way to repay the city that welcomed my with open arms, than by becoming its servant in the 2nd District. If you have an HOA, or if you would like to speak with me directly, please feel free to contact me via the information below. Thank you for your continued support in my endeavor.
