UC Irvine Engineers Without Borders:
Madagascar Project

We're raising money to fund our water pipe project in Madagascar! The pipe is about 350 meters long, and will carry clean water directly from an underground source to the village of Maventibao in northern Madagascar.

As of now, each family of the 180 person community spends hours trecking back and forth to collect water, carrying 5-gallon containers. If we can save them this time, there will be more time to grow crops, such as beans or mangos, improve the infrastructure of their community, or mine sapphires.

Our implementation trip will be in December, 2016. We hope to have three to four students and a professional advisor make the trip.

What is Engineers Without Borders?

Our organization aims to build a better world by empowering underdeveloped communities. This is achieved by partnering with them and working towards achieving the goal of meeting basic living standards. In the pursuit of this goal, we students also have the opportunity to learn how to apply engineering concepts  to the real world. We take on engineering projects with the goal of developing long-term, sustainable solutions for these communities.

This project has given the students of Engineers Without Borders at UCI the opportunity to design and build a water pipe for a community in need. Not only are we gaining engineering experience, we're able to change lives.

We hope that you see the importance of this project, and contribute by either donating or sharing.

Thank you!
